Southern Ute Indian Tribe Of The Southern Ute Indian Reservation, CO Series 2025A/B GO Bonds Assigned 'AAA' Rating
NEW YORK (S&P Global Ratings) March 27, 2025--S&P Global Ratings assigned its 'AAA' rating to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation (the Tribe), Colo.'s series 2025A and 2025B general obligation (GO) bonds. At the same time, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its 'AAA/A-1+' dual rating on the Tribe's series 2007 adjustable-rate bonds and affirmed its 'AAA' issuer credit rating (ICR).
We borrowed elements of our "Sovereign Rating Methodology" criteria (published Dec. 18, 2017 on RatingsDirect), specifically the adoption of institutional assessment factors, to allow for the evaluation of the tribal nation's unique policy-making and political and fiscal frameworks.
The outlook is stable.
"The rating reflects our view of the Tribe's solid financial performance, experienced, stable, and proactive governing body, and low debt burden," said S&P Global Ratings credit analyst Peter Murphy. The stable outlook reflects our view of the Tribe's very strong financial position, which we expect to be maintained through the two-year outlook period. The outlook also reflects our view that management will maintain its structurally balanced operations without substantially diminishing its liquidity or drawing down its available reserves.
