No Rating Impact Following Error Correction In Our Analysis Of U.S. Small Business ABS Transactions

TORONTO (S&P Global Ratings) May 7, 2024--S&P Global Ratings recently identified an error in its treatment of defaulted assets while calculating the collateral's principal balance--which impacts the determination of interest payable on the notes under our base case and stress scenarios--for U.S. small business asset-backed securities (ABS) transactions. Specifically, our interpretation of the transaction documents led to the exclusion of defaulted assets from the calculation of principal balance immediately upon default, rather than upon receipt of recoveries, under our base-case and stress scenarios in our analysis. As a result, the interest due on the notes was calculated on a lower note balance. The error occurred at the time ratings were assigned at closing to various U.S. small business ABS transactions and throughout the course of surveillance.

There are 11 outstanding transactions with 16 ratings that are impacted by this error within our U.S. small business ABS universe (see ratings list). After analyzing all 16 affected ratings, we've concluded that correcting the error would not lead to a rating transition in any of the affected ratings.
